MTN8 Competition — Terms & Conditions

The promoters of the competition are Ackermans a division of Pepkor Trading (Pty) Ltd and MTN ("the Promoters").  

The name of the Competition is “WIN a trip to the MTN8 final “(“the Competition").  

The Competition will run from 30 July to 02 September 2026 (both days included) ("the Competition Period").  

By entering the Competition, all participants and winners agree to be bound by these terms and conditions which will be interpreted by the Promoter, whose decision regarding any dispute will be final and binding and no correspondence shall be entered into regarding the decision. The Promoter reserves the right to amend, modify, change, postpone, suspend or cancel this Competition and any prizes, or any aspect thereof, without notice at any time, for any reason that the Promoter reasonably deems necessary.  

Participants stand a chance to win 1(one) of 5 (five) double tickets to watch the MTN8 Final match including two nights' accommodation and return flights.   

The Competition is open to all participants 18 (eighteen) years or older at the time of entering the competition within the Republic of South Africa that are South African citizens (in possession of a valid South African ID book or card) and South African residents (in possession of a valid South African permanent residency permit).   

You are not eligible to participate in this competition if: -   

To enter the Competition participants will need to do the following during the Competition Period to qualify for an automatic entry to the Competition (“Participants”):  

Purchase any MTN handset at any Ackermans or Ackermans Connect store;and  

Recharge with R30 or more  

Entry into the competition is free and participants may enter multiple times during the competition period, if participants complete the Competition entry steps set out in clause 9 above.  

Five (5) winners will be randomly selected via a computer operated draw on) 07 September 2026 from Participants.  

The "Trip" includes return economy-class flights, two nights' hotel accommodation, and meals provided during the stay. To facilitate and fulfil the prize, the Promoters will require the winner (and, where applicable, their travel companion) to provide certain personal information, including but not limited to their full name, identity/passport details, contact information, and any other information reasonably required to arrange travel and accommodation. This personal information will be collected and processed solely for the purpose of administering and fulfilling the prize and will not be used for any unrelated purpose without the participant's consent or unless otherwise required by law.  

In addition to any other verification requirements set out in these terms and conditions, the Promoter may require the Prize winner to complete and submit an information disclosure agreement and indemnification, as well as supply a certified copy of their valid South African ID or Passport with their endorsed residence permit within 24 (twenty four) hours of being confirmed a winner, to enable the Promoters to ensure compliance with these terms and conditions and the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008. Should any winner refuse or be unable to comply with this for any reason, such winner will be deemed to have rejected the prize, and it shall revert to the Promoter.  

The Promoters reserve the right to disqualify any entrant who enters using false information by robotic, automated or like means.  

The Prize in this Competition is neither transferable nor redeemable for cash and the Promoters are not liable for any defect in the prizes.  

Winners acknowledge and agree that they can be requested to participate in reasonable promotional activities related to the Competition, including but not limited to photography, videography, interviews, and other content creation for marketing and publicity purposes, unless refused. 

Possible winners will be contacted between 10:00am and 3:00pm on the day of the random draw on the cellphone number used to enter the Competition, being the cellphone number linked to the SIM card that was RICA registered as part of the qualifying purchase of the MTN handset. Participants must ensure that this number is accurate and active, as it will be used for all winner communications. Calls may be recorded for verification purposes.  

The Promoter will endeavour to contact the prize winner once every day for 2 consecutive working days after their name is drawn. If the prize winner cannot be contacted during this period for whatever reason including technical problems, the prize will be forfeited.  

Winners have 2 (two) working days from being contacted to submit a copy of their ID for verification to claim the Prize.  

The Promoters and their delivery agent do not accept responsibility or liability for any loss or damage and will also not be responsible or liable for any further expenses or fees required for the purpose of using, applying or enjoying the prize won in this competition.  

Entrants and winners give Ackermans consent to use their names and photos for publicity purposes, unless refused. 

The Promoters reserve the right to vary, suspend, postpone or terminate the competition and any prizes, or any aspect thereof, for any reasons whatsoever and without notice. In such event, you hereby waive any rights or expectations which you may have against Ackermans and acknowledge that you will not have any recourse or claim of any nature against Ackermans. 

Your privacy is very important to Ackermans and the Pepkor group of companies and it will use all reasonable efforts in order to ensure that any information, including personal information, provided by you, or which is collected from you, is stored in a secure manner. You agree to provide Pepkor with accurate and current information and to maintain and update such information when necessary. The information collected by Pepkor may be used to send you information about products, services, and special offers of the various companies in the Pepkor group that may be of interest or value to you. The information may also be processed by Ackermans and other companies in the Pepkor group, any of their operators, agents and subcontractors (who may be outside South Africa) on the condition that they will keep such information confidential. 

You acknowledge that any information supplied to Ackermans and the Pepkor group of companies in terms of these Terms and Conditions are provided voluntarily. 

By submitting any information to Ackermans and the Pepkor group of companies in any form you further acknowledge that such conduct constitutes an unconditional, specific and voluntary consent to the processing of such information by Ackermans and the Pepkor group of companies under any applicable law in the manner contemplated above, which consent shall, in the absence of any written objection received from you, be indefinite and/or for the period otherwise required in terms of any applicable law. 

Unless you have consented, Ackermans and the Pepkor group of companies will not sell, exchange, transfer, rent or otherwise make available any personal information about you (such as name, address, email address, telephone or fax number) to other parties and you indemnify Ackermans and the Pepkor group of companies from any unintentional disclosures of such information to unauthorized persons. 

Should you believe that Ackermans and the Pepkor group of companies have utilised your personal information contrary to applicable law, you shall first resolve any concerns with Ackermans and the Pepkor group of companies. If you are not satisfied with such a process, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator. 

You can choose to be excluded from direct marketing by notifying Ackermans in writing or by registering a block on any registry which Ackermans is bound by law to recognise. Ackermans will not charge you a fee to update this request on its systems. Ackermans will give effect to any changes requested by you as soon as reasonably possible.
