Terms and Conditions

The promoter of this competition is Ackermans, a division of Pepkor Trading (Pty) Ltd (“the Promoter”).

The name of the competition is “Stand a Chance to Win One Million in Tech Prizes” (“the Competition”).

The Competition will run from 5 March 2026 to 3 June 2026, both days included (“the Competition Period”).

By entering the Competition and/or accepting any prize (if you are a winner), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

The Competition is open to all participants within the Republic of South Africa who are:
a) South African citizens (in possession of a valid South African ID book or smart card); or
b) South African permanent residents (in possession of a valid permanent residency permit).
You are not eligible to participate if:
a. You are a director, member, partner, employee, agent, or consultant of the Pepkor group of companies, its affiliates, divisions or subsidiaries, or any other person who supplies goods or services in connection with the Competition.
b. You are a spouse, life partner, parent, child, sibling, immediate family member, business partner, or associate of any of the persons specified above. -
Customers who enter into a FoneYam agreement for a smartphone at any Ackermans store during the Competition Period will automatically be entered into the Competition (“Participants”).

Entry is free. Participants may enter only once.

Participants stand a chance to win one (1) of twenty-four (24) tech prizes (8 prizes per month during the Competition Period). Prizes include:

Hisense TV
-
Home Entertainment System

PlayStation 5 Console
-
EA Sports FC 24 (PS5 game)
(Collectively referred to as “the Prizes”.)

Twenty-four (24) winners will be randomly selected via a computer-operated draw.

Winners of the television prize must have a valid television licence.

By accepting any Prize, the winner agrees to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any Participant who enters using false information or through robotic, automated, or similar means.

All Prizes are non-transferable and may not be exchanged for cash.

The monthly draws for the eight (8) winners will take place as follows:

March 2026 entries: 6 April 2026

April 2026 entries: 6 May 2026

May 2026 entries: 9 June 2026

Winners will be notified telephonically. If a winner cannot be reached after three (3) attempts at reasonable intervals within three (3) business days, an alternative winner will be drawn.

The Promoter and its delivery agents accept no responsibility or liability for any loss or damage arising from participation in the Competition or use of the Prize, nor for any additional expenses required to use or enjoy the Prize.

By accepting a Prize, the winner consents to the use of their name for publicity purposes by the Promoter and its authorised agents, unless expressly refused.

The Promoter reserves the right to vary, suspend, postpone, or terminate the Competition or any aspect thereof at any time and without notice. In such event, Participants waive any rights or claims against the Promoter.

Your privacy is important to the Promoter and the Pepkor group of companies. All personal information will be processed in a secure and compliant manner. For more information, refer to the detailed Privacy Statement available on the Promoter’s website.

Participants agree to provide accurate and current information and to update such information when necessary. Information collected may be used to send details about products, services, and special offers within the Pepkor group of companies.

Any personal information supplied is provided voluntarily.

By submitting information, Participants consent to the processing of such information in accordance with applicable laws, unless written objection is received.

Unless consented to, the Promoter will not sell, exchange, transfer, rent, or otherwise make available personal information to third parties. Participants indemnify the Promoter against unintentional disclosures to unauthorised persons.

If you believe your personal information has been processed contrary to applicable law, you should first attempt to resolve the matter with the Promoter. If unresolved, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.

Participants may opt out of direct marketing at any time by notifying the Promoter in writing or registering a block on any recognised registry. No fee will be charged for updating this request.
