1. A.Rewards specific

1.1. Why can’t I register for A.Rewards?
A.Rewards is closing on the 31st of December therefore we won’t take new registrations. We are closing the programme to focus our efforts on offering you even more great promotions, including many items at lower prices than this year! And we’ll make sure to let you know about it, so you’ll never miss out on the deals.

From January 2018 we’ll offer you even more great promotions, including many items at lower prices than this year! And we’ll make sure to let you know about it, so you’ll never miss out on the deals.

  • Kids bedtime stories on our App – in 5 languages
  • Kids educational activities on our website – in 5 languages
  • And a brand-new free magazine! You’ll be able to pick it up in store on a first come, first-served basis and it will also be available online. The magazine will offer great fashion advice, interviews with celebrities and exciting competitions.

1.4. How was everyone informed of the closing of Rewards?
All active A.Rewards members were informed via sms and a letter was enclosed with the monthly statements for A.Rewards club customers.

1.5. What happens to the stars that I have accumulated?
You can still earn A.Rewards stars until 31st December 2017. Thereafter they will expire; but remember the stars don't have a monetary value attached to them, they do contribute to your status (Bronze, Silver and Gold). Each status level's benefits improve as you move up from one status level to the next.

1.6. Is there going to be a pay-out for the stars you’ve accumulated?

1.7. Can I still swipe my card at stores?
Yes, you can still swipe your card at the stores until 31st December 2017. This means you will still earn A.Rewards stars and can make use of the cashback offers up until 31st December 2017.

1.8. Can I still earn stars?
Yes, you can still earn A.Rewards stars and make use of the cashback offers up until 31st December 2017. Just remember to have the cashier to swipe your card before or during the sale.

1.9. Can I still qualify for cashbacks on promotions?
Yes, you can still qualify for cashbacks if you purchase the promoted products up until 31st December 2017. Just remember to have the cashier to swipe your card before or during the sale. The last set of quarterly cashback vouchers will be paid out in early January 2018.

1.10. Can I still earn cashbacks during my birthday month?
If you are on Silver or Gold and your birthday is between October and December 2017 and you spend in your birthday month you will be eligible for cashbacks. The last set of quarterly cashback vouchers will be paid out in early January 2018.

1.11. Can I still earn a card usage bonus?
If you are on Silver or Gold and have spent R750 or more on your Ackermans Store Card account between October and December 2017 and your account is up to date/not in arrears then you will be entitled to a cashback voucher. Depending on your Status Level, you will get between R25 and R40 back in you next Quarterly cashback voucher. The last set of quarterly cash back vouchers will be paid out in early January 2018.

1.12. Will I still qualify for Back to School cashbacks in December?
If you are on Silver or Gold you will be entitled to Back-to-School benefits if you purchase Back-to-School goods (Clothing, Shoes, School Bags, Books and Stationary) during the month of December 2017. Depending on your Status Level, you will get the percentage back in your next Quarterly cashback voucher. Depending on your Status Level, you will get between 5 and 15% of your Back-to-School spend back in you next Quarterly cashback voucher. The last set of quarterly cashback vouchers will be paid out in early January 2018.

1.13. Will there still be competitions/lucky draws?
Yes, we will still run our great monthly competitions/lucky draws up until 31 December 2017 and as per usual you will still be automatically entered if you buy anything from our stores during the month.

1.14. Will I still have access to inspiration and entertainment?
Up until the 31st December you will still have access to
  • Fashion tips and inspiring quotes on USSD (*130*602#)
  • Kids bedtime stories on our App – in 5 languages
  • Kids educational activities on our website – in 5 languages

1.15. Will we still receive cashback vouchers?
If you have qualified for any cashback between the 1st October and 31st December 2017 your quarterly cashback voucher will be paid out in early January 2018.

1.16. By when must I use my voucher?
You’ll have the normal three months to spend your vouchers, even though the programme will be closed. You must therefore use your voucher by the 31st of March 2018.

1.17. What must I do with my A.Rewards card after the 31st December 2017?
Cut it up as it will no longer be valid.

1.18. What are the benefits of having an A.Rewards Card?
The A.Rewards programme is a status-driven programme, meaning the more you shop, the better your rewards. Benefits include quarterly cashback vouchers, monthly lucky draws,prizes and much more.

1.19. What are the stars I earn worth?
We award stars for various activities, including the purchase of goods from us, as well as the holding and activation of products we offer. Although the stars don't have a monetary value attached to them, they do contribute to your status (Bronze, Silver and Gold). Each status level's benefits improve as you move up from one status level to the next.

1.20. How can I earn bonus stars?
Lay-by customers can earn extra stars every time they complete a lay-by. Simply swipe your A.Rewards card before each transaction and lay-by in order to earn 100 bonus stars when you complete your lay-by.

1.21. How does the status system work?
The status system works on the principle of "the more you shop the better your rewards will be". Each status level comes with its own benefits. To move up from one status level to the next, you'll need to accumulate the required number of stars in a programme year. The more stars you earn, the higher the status level you'll reach:
Bronze — a STAR balance of less than 2 000 STARS
Silver — a STAR balance of between 2 000 and 3 999 STARS
Gold — a STAR balance of more than 4 000 STARS

1.22. What happens if I accidently delete the voucher sent to me?
Contact the Call Centre on 0860 900 100 and either follow the self-service prompts, or speak to one of our friendly agents who'll be able to assist you. You can also retrieve your voucher numbers in the A.Rewards section of the Ackermans website, or via the USSD service by dialing *130*602#.

1.23. Do I have to use the full voucher amount when I shop?
You can choose the amount of the cashback voucher you wish to use towards payment for your purchase. The full value of the cashback voucher must, however, be used before the expiry date. Expiry dates are communicated in the SMS sent to you.

1.24. How do I find out if I've used all my vouchers?
Contact the Call Centre on 0860 900 100 and either follow the self-service prompts, or speak to one of our friendly agents who'll be able to assist you. You can also retrieve your voucher balance in the A.Rewards section of the Ackermans website, or via the USSD service by dialling *130*602#.

1.25. How long is my voucher valid for?
All cashback vouchers are valid for three months from the date they're issued. A ”use by” date will be included in the SMS sent to you.

1.26. Can I exchange my vouchers for cash?
Vouchers can only be used as payment towards purchases made at any Ackermans store in South Africa and cannot be exchanged for cash.

1.27. Can I give my voucher to someone else to use?
Unfortunately, cashback vouchers are non-transferable. You can, however, purchase a gift card with your cashback voucher.

1.28. My voucher expired last week, can I still use it?
Each voucher is valid for a specific period and must be used before said period expires.



2. A.Rewards Club specific

2.1. Why can’t I register for A.Rewards Club?

2.3. Will I lose my funeral policy?
Yes you will. If you cancel or your A.Rewards club membership lapses before December 2017 you will receive insurance until the last month you paid for. If you are still an active A.Rewards club member in December 2017: in appreciation of your loyal support, Ackermans will extend your A.Rewards Club Funeral Insurance for 3 months from January to March 2018 at no charge. T&Cs apply.

2.4. What happens to the premiums for the policy that I have paid so far
This was Group scheme policy insurance and you were covered on a month-to-month basis.

2.5. When will my last Club fee instalment be taken off my account?
Your last Club fee instalment will be charged in December 2017.

2.6. Are there any other funeral policies I can get to replace this one?
Ackermans offers a whole range of other funeral policies - please have a look at https://www.ackermans.co.za/general-content/insurance/funeral-cover or phone 0861 375 878. If you are not covered by an existing Ackermans/Hollard funeral policy by the end of March 2018 and you’ve provided us with Marketing permission we will be in contact to offer you an alternative funeral policy.

2.7. Will I still get a magazine sent to me?
The last magazine will be sent to you with your November statement (it is labelled the December issue). Thereafter you will no longer receive any Ackermans magazines by post.

2.8. Will there still be a magazine in the new year?
Yes – Ackermans is introducing a brand-new free magazine. And a brand-new free magazine! You’ll be able to pick it up in store on a first come, first-served basis and it will also be available online. The magazine will offer great fashion advice, interviews with celebrities and exciting competitions.

2.9. Will there still be Club competitions?
We will still have competitions in the new magazine, but they will now be open to all customers and not only A.Rewards Club customers.

2.10. What happens if my club membership was not active in October?
In the past if, you were in arrears we did not charge you for Club but only charged again once your account was up to date. We will however not re-activate any Club policies from October onwards.

2.11. What happens to my club membership if I go into arrears from October until December?
In the past once your account was up to date we would re-activate your membership. In this case, we will no longer re-activate any memberships if it has lapsed due to going into arrears.

2.12. What if I signed up for club but only activated my account now?
We will unfortunately not process your Club application due to the decision to close the Ackermans Club on 31st of December 2017.
